Windsor Academy runs on tradition. Every year, every season, every month has its own ceremony — its own ritual, its own rules, its own weight. Students are not just educated here. They are shaped by the rhythm of the year.
From the Ceremony of Crests in September to the Graduation in June, the calendar is a living thing. Miss a tradition, and you will be remembered. Break one, and you will be forgotten.
THE SIX GREAT TRADITIONS
September · First week
The sorting. The oath. The moment a student becomes part of a House.
First-years gather in the Great Hall. The Dean reads each name. Lineage is announced, or achievements, or neither. The student kneels. The House Prefect approaches and presents the House tie. The oath is spoken. All rise and say: Ad maiorem Windsor gloriam.
November — March
Fencing, debate, equestrian, archery, strategy — the most prestigious competition of the year.
Six phases. Six kinds of victory. The House with the most points wins the Tournament Cup — and the Golden Key. Reputations are made here. Rivalries are born here. Some students will never recover from what happens on this stage.
December
The night of snow, champagne, and quiet cruelty.
The Great Hall transforms. Theme voted by the Student Council. Formal attire. Masks, if the theme demands. The ball is not just a party — it is a battlefield. Alliances are made. Hearts are broken. Scandals are born. And everyone is watching everyone.
February
A campus-wide quest. Four Houses. One hidden artifact.
The Dean reveals the quest. Clues are distributed. Teams spread across the campus — the Rose Garden, the Library, the Old Grove, the crypt. Alliances form and break within hours. Betrayals happen. Heroes emerge. And when the artifact is found, the whole academy remembers who found it.
May 1 · Anniversary
The birthday of Windsor. And the day of the Golden Key.
The campus opens. Booths, parades, a talent show, a time capsule, an outdoor film at night. But the heart of the Festival is the Golden Key Award — the highest honor at Windsor. One student. One key. A lifetime of doors opening.
June
The last procession. The last oath. The last time all four Houses stand together.
Robes. Speeches. The Dean's address. The conferral of degrees, name by name. The alumni oath. Caps thrown. And then — a ball, champagne, farewells, and promises to return. The doors of Windsor close behind them. But Windsor never really lets go.
